Hello, I'm Maria.

I teach Child and Human Development, but I find purpose in helping students do well in life.

I have taught all grade levels – from preschool to college. And for over 10 years I have taught college students either in health or child development classes.  No matter what I teach, I find my greatest joy when students enjoy the subject they are learning and can apply the knowledge they have gained to their own life. In addition to finding ways to effectively teach students course content, I often find myself teaching others how to succeed as students in my classes and in life. I think that being a student goes beyond the classroom and continues through our lives as participators in the world around us.

In my spare time, I love reading, taking walks, and exploring new places and ideas. I live with my husband, teen son, and three cats in San Diego.

Through this website I want to share tips and strategies on how to be a successful student for life.
